Will Transcript
- Will of Moses Gamble, written 14 September 1830
- I Moses Gamble Senr. of Blount County in the State of Tennessee do hereby make my last will and testament in manner and form following that is:
- 1st. I devise that all my just debts be paid and satisfied out of the money that is due and owing to me by different persons.
- 2nd. After the payment of my debts and funeral expenses I give to my wife Rachel Gamble all my land for and during the term of her natural life to be divided among the persons and in the manner hereinafter named I give her one ___ on Samuel Henry. I give her my stock of hogs and cattle and all the household and kitchen furniture to be disposed of as she pleases.
- 3rd. I give to my brother Alexander B. Gamble at the death of my wife the plantation where I now live to be enjoyed by him and his heirs forever.
- 4th. I give to my brother in law John Reagan at the death of my said wife two small tracts of land lying on Crooked where James Langford last lived to be enjoyed by him and his heirs forever.
- 5th. I give to Polly D. [?} Barrett at the death of my said wife another tract of land lying on Crooked Creek where James Krineman now lives to be enjoyed by him and his heirs forever but in case she should die without children then I give the said land to my brother Alexander B. Gamble and his heirs forever. I likewise give her our feather bed and furniture.
- 6th. I give to John Henry and his heirs twenty five dollars out of a note I hold on him and I give the ballance of said note to James G. [?] Henry.
- 7th. I give to Hugh Henry Jr. and Anna G. Birt [?] ten dollars each to be paid by James Henry out of a note I hold on him and the ballance of said note I give to the said James Henry.
- 8th. I give the ballance of the money that may be owing or in any wise coming to me after pay the said Bequeath a___ all expenses to Elisabeth Gamble and her heirs and to Moses Gamble Jr. and Josiah Gamble senr. to be divided in ___ equal parts and the said Elizabeth __ to have ___ share and lastly ___ hereby ___ constitute and appoint my friends Alexander B. Gamble and John Reagan executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all other or former wills or testaments by he heretofore made.
- In witness where of I have to executed set my hand and seal this fourteenth day of September in the year of or lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty.

- Signed sealed published and declared to be the last will and testament of the above named Moses Gamble in presence of us who at his request and in his presence have hereunto Subscribed our names as witnesses to the same.
