    General Moses W. CHAPLINE (1789-1840) died, 20 October 1840, in his 51st year. He was a son of Moses and Mary (CALDWELL) CHAPLINE.

    General Moses W Chapline*, aide de camp of General Louis Cass in War of 1812. He was the first Mayor of Wheeling in 1836 to 1840. His wife was Elizabeth Miller Fox, whose father was Josiah Fox, for 15 years constructor of all the navy yards of the United States, appointed under General Washington's administration.
