Moses Ayers, born CA 1732, New Jersey, died in Allegany County, Maryland in 1803. He married Dorcas Cox and moved to Washington County, Maryland, the area where he settled later became Allegany County, Maryland. His will was proved in Allegany County on 15 December 1803, he bequeathed land in "Ayers Caution" to his sons. Moses, David and Samuel, daughters Yanacha, Mapey (likely Mercy) and May (likely Mary) , and his grandchildren William and Mary, children of son Michael. He also recognized Grandchildren Nathaniel, Moses and David, sons of son Jacob. Moses was survived by his "dear wife", to whom he bequeathed "all the Beds and all their furneture and and all the other Household furneture Belonging to the House and all the money that she haith by Her," . Dorcas (Cox) Ayers died in 1814. Moses and his wife Dorcas are buried in the "Old Green Cemetery", located on Savage Mountain, near Lonaconing, Maryland, on property patented to Moses Ayers, Senior. Gravestones marked "M.A. born 1732, died 1803 and D.A. born 1733, died 1814" are pre sent in the cemetery. Other family members are also buried here, there are several unmarked graves.
