William Christopher was also heard of a family in 1734 and on Aug. 25, 1741 the executors of Alexander Spotswood deeded to William Christopher 150 acres "during the lifetime of William Christopher and Morton Christopher his son (Orange Co. D. B. 6, p. 111). William deeded this land to Thomas Jones July 28, 1743 (Deed B. 7 p. 356).

Morton Christopher son of William Married about 1765/6 Elizabeth Wayland, daughter of Adam Wayland and granddaughter of Thomas Wayland the later Germanna pioneer (See Wayland) and the birth of their 9 Children born 1767-1795 are shown in Keith (p. 242).


7th of February, 1778, Morton Christopher of Culpeper granted a Power of Attorney to his uncle David Christopher of Mecklenburg to collect what was due to him from his grandfather's estate, willed to his father William Christopher:
"Know all men by these presents that I Morton Christopher of the County of Culpepper, have made, ordained, constituted and by these presents do make, ordain and constitute and in my place and stead put and despute my trust and loving Uncle David Christopher of the County of Mecklenburg my true and lawful attorney for me and in my name and for my use to ask, demand, sue for, levy, recover and receive all the ready Money, goods and chattels that my grand father Nicholas Christopher of the County of Lunenburg willed to my father William Christopher bearing date February, 1754, which are or shall be due me from any person or persons holding the same whatsoever in the County of Lunenburg, giving and granting unto my said Attorney by these presents my full and whole power strength and authority in and about the said ready money goods and chattels. To have use and to take all lawful ways and means in my name for the recovery thereof. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this day of _________1778.

Mention of his daughter Milly

Lincoln County KY Records Order Book 5 1794-1801

March 12, 1799 p. 181B Administration on the estate of Morton Christopher, Dec.d, is granted to Ambrose Christopher and Benjamin Clore, who executed their bond of 1,000 pounds with Stephen Fisher as their surety.

William Bryan, Thomas Ball, John Withers and William Crow, or any three of the to make appraisal of the personal estate of the decedent.

July 8, 1800 p. 210B William Bryant and John Withers are to examine and settle the accounts of Benjamin Clore's administration of Morton Christopher's estate.

p.210B Ordered that Benjamin Clore be appointed guardian to Lewis Christopher, Sally Christopher, James Christopher and Milly Christopher infant orphans of Morton Christopher, dec'd. He acknowledged bond of 500 pounds with John Reed his surety.

Note: This is the only mention of the daughter Milly Christopher that I can find. Some people say she was born 24 JUL 1795, Madison, Kentucky and died Feb 1833. I will not add her to the tree until I find further records/sources".

  5.   Many people say that John Coleman Christopher 1765-1840 was the son of Morton and Elizabeth Wayland, but Y-DNA testing of 2 of John Coleman Christopher's living male descendants proves that to be false. Morton > William > Nicholas descendants have a haplogroup of R-FGC29470 with a distinguishing STR marker for DYS393 with a value of 10. John Coleman Christopher's descendants have a DYS393 value of 13.
    All the Nicholas Christopher descendants have the following first 12 STR Values:
    PANEL 1 (1-12)
    10 24 14 11 11-15 12 12 12 10 13 27
    We have all been tested to 67 Y-STR but the first 12 eliminate any Christopher who is not a descendant of one of Nicholas Christopher's sons William or David who now have living descendants.
    Many of the group of men who tested positive as Nicholas descendants have had the Big-Y test done at FTDNA.
