Morgan P. Stenseth, 88, of 151 Amstar Dr., Chippewa Falls, went to be with his beloved wife, Eleanor on Monday evening, March 29, 2004, at Lakeside South Nursing and Rehabilitation, Chippewa Falls. He was born Aug. 21, 1915, in Chippewa Falls to Kristine (Helseth) and Peder Stenseth of Norway. He attended the old wooden First Ward Grade School, Chippewa Falls Junior High School and graduated from Chippewa Falls High School with the class of 1934. He earned an Associate Degree in Metallurgy from the University of Minnesota. In the depression years, he was a route salesman for Chippewa Baking Company and later in manufacturing for General Dynamics. Morgan married Eleanor M. Paul on Nov. 25, 1937, at Notre Dame rectory in Chippewa Falls. She preceded him in death on March 6, 2002. He was a veteran of World War II, serving from Feb. 27, 1945 until Aug. 24, 1946. He trained at Camp Gordon Georgia Infantry Center and served with the 4th Infantry Replacement Regiment at Ulithi Island Marianas. After the war ended on Sept. 2, 1945, he landed in the Philippines the same time as the Black Hawk Division which was transferred from Europe for the invasion of Japan. After the war, he was supervisor at National Presto Industries and quality control manager for King Sealy Thermos, retiring in 1973. He was a well known sportsman and landed his 53" musky in 1973. He was a member of Notre Dame Catholic Church and was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. and the D.A.V. He was a 60 year member of the U.C.T. and also served on the Park Board for the City of Chippewa Falls. Survivors include: two daughters, Ann (William) Schneider of Long Grove, Iowa, Kay (James) Gunn of Chippewa Falls; a son, Paul (Nancy Braem) Stenseth of Madison; a sister, Dagmar (Robert) Klinner of Medford; six grandchildren, Dan, Darrin, David Schneider, Julie Corbin, Stacia and Aimee Gunn; and seven great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Kayla, Jonathan, Kathleen, Alex, Abbey and Joshua. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by: his parents; and one sister, Irene Stenseth. |
