'Colonel Moore Fauntleroy came to Virginia about 1643 and first settled in Norfolk County, which he represented in the House of Burgesses 1644-7; removed to Lancaster County, which he represented in the House in 1651, 1653, and 1655-8; when Rappahannock County was formed his home fell within its boundaries, and he was a member of the House from that county 1658-1660. He married (second wife) Mary Hill, and had issue: William Fauntleroy, of Rappahannock County, magistrate 1680-95...'

    Fauntleroy, Moore, was a member of an ancient English family and was son of John Fauntleroy, gentleman, and Phoebe Wilkinson, his wife, of Crondall, Hampshire. He settled, first at Nansemond, and afterwards removed to the northern neck of Virginia. He was major and colonel of the militia, and burgess for Upper Norfolk, Nansemond county, in 1645 and 1647; for Lancaster county, in 1651, 1653 and 1656; and for Rappahannock county in 1659 and 1660. He was a man of great influence in the colony. He married (first) in England, Dorothy, daughter of Thomas Colle; (second) in Virginia, Mary Hill. He died before 1665, leaving issue.
