He probably did not live on this track. The property was divided among three sons, Ambrose, Whittle and James, each with 133 1/3 acres. Whittle and his wife, Judith, made their home there and probably built the home called Red Hill. It is a story and a half frame house with a brick basement. It has a gabled roof with three dormer windows, massive free-standing, brick, end chimneys, a small four-columned front portico and six-over-six windows on the first floor. It was passed down through Whittle's daughter Elizabeth, and in1873 to her daughter, Julia. Julia deeded it to her daughter, Ida, in 1911. In 1964, Ida deeded it to two of her children, Ruby and Graham. When I visited in 1986, Ruby and her niece Sarah Amick and her husband J.R. Amick still lived in the house. · Note: ID: I29231 Reference Number: 29231 Name: James Flanagan 1 Sex: M Change Date: 08 APR 2000 Birth: BEF 1726 1 Death: 01 JUN 1752-20 JUN 1752 in Louisa County, Virginia Note: when his will was first written, then proved 1Marriage 1 Sevena Whittall, married: ABT 1747 1Children1. Grandpa Ware married Elizabeth (Betsy) Ware. Their Children were John Allen Ware and Sallie Phillip Ware. Grandpa Ware was a schoolteacher in East Texas and bought 900 acres of land at 50cents an acre. I do not know if he left all the land to Grandma Betsy and then to mamma Sally and uncle John inherited it from her. I think that is the way it was. After Grandpa Ware died Grandma Betsy married again to James Wainwright Flanagan. I don't think they had any children. Sallie P. Ware married her stepbrother General Webster Flanagan the son of James Winwright Flanagan. They had four children: Clarence Russell Flanagan; John Flanagan; Bessie Flanagan; Irma Flanagan. Clarence Russell Flanagan married Erin Robinson and had three children: Walter Webster Flanagan; Mollie Horace Flanagan; and Bonnie Louise Flanagan. The land inherited from Mamma Sally to Clarence Russell Flanagan from the 900 acres purchased by Grandpa Ware, of the 1400 acres supposed to be inherited by C. R. Flanagan, 700 acres or 650acres, I am not sure of the exact amount, was inherited and an equal amount of 700 or 650 acres was purchased from Uncle John through Tracy Flanagan, community property with Mary Jim Flanagan, C.R. Flanagan's second wife. Aunt Irma, Uncle John and Clarence Russell Flanagan had Mamma Sally and Grandpa Flanagan's estate divided without probating Mamma Sally's will. Bonnie Flanagan had it probated when she was 21 year's old. When Walter Flanagan died, Bonnie Flanagan and Horace Mathews inherited his share of the land on the river (Russell Williamson survey). A total of 50 acres each. Horace Mathews sold her 50 acres to Richard T. Mathews, her son. This same 300 acre tract of land was deeded to Walter Flanagan, Horace Mathews and Bonnie Flanagan after the death of Erin Flanagan as our share of Clarence Russell Flanagan and Erin Flanagan estate. It was not part of the 1400 acres that originally belonged to Aunt Horace who married John Allen Ware. Aunt Horace was General Webster Flanagan's daughter. They had agreed to let Clarence Russell Flanagan have the 300 acres on the Sabine River if he would live on it and take care of it for a certain period of time. All of these notes are the stories told to Horace Mathews as she was growing up. When C. R. Flanagan died, Walter, Horace and Bonnie got about 800 acres of land or 266acres each. Horace and Bonnie sold all their land for 20$ an acre or less and the only land left was Walters 100 acres on the river. Richard Mathews and Bonnie Flanagan sold that 100 acres but kept all the mineral rights. Horace Mathews sold her 100acres on the river to J. W. Dalston but kept one-fourth of the mineral rights. · Change Date: 22 JUL 2001 Father: Clarence Russell FLANAGAN b: 26 JUL 1879 in Henderson, Rusk co., Texas Mother: Erin Lou ROBINSON b: 16 FEB 1875 in Alexander City Alabama Marriage 1 Hiram Zaner Massachusetts Sr. b: 27 Massachusetts 1906 in Tatum, Texas, USA ·Married: 15 OCT 1926 in Longview, Gregg Co, Texas Children 1.
