Facts and Events
Name[2] Miriam Jackson
Gender Female
Birth[1] Abt 1826 Hempstead, Queens, New York
Marriage to Thomas William Jones
Death[4][5] 21 May 1891 Seaford, Nassau, New York, United States
Burial[4][5] Jones Burial Ground, Massapequa, Nassau, New York

I think it is strange that the two youngest children, James and Alice do not show up on the 1870 census. Oddities like this usually means more research is needed. I note that from the 1860 through 1880 the ages of the children do not exactly jibe. **Later: See note below as I have found a different 1870 census records that needs to be compared.

1860 Census 81, Hempstead, Queens Co., New York
Thomas Jones 40 M farmer 8,000 1,000 NY
Maria Jones 34 F NY
Alfred Jones 15 M farm laborer NY
Mary Jones 11 f NY
Susan Jones 8 F NY
Thomas Jones 8/12 M NY

1870 Census 77, Hempstead, Queens Co., New York (#1)
Jones, Thomas W. 50 M W farmer 20,000 5,000 NY
Jones, Mariam 45 F W Keeping House NY
Jones, Albert 23 M W clerk in store NY
Jones, Mary 18 F W at home NY
Jones, Samuel 16 M W at school NY
Jones, William 13 M W at school NY
Jones, Sarah 12 F W at school NY
Seaman, Jackson 28 M W farm laborer 500 250 NY Seaman, Latetia 19 F W keeping house NY

Now these similarities are strange. It is possible that these are Thomas' wife Mariam's parents with their dau Phoebe. Perhaps Marian was on an extended visit with them and had children Albert, Mary and Alice with her. And the whole household was enumerated.
