Miranda's marriage to Joel Watts in 1861 appears to be her second marriage. On Oct. 12, 1850, Miranda, age 20, was living with John B. Masterson, age 24, in Troy Twp., Fountain Co., IN; both were born in Kentucky (page 51B, no children, school teacher Allen Pearson, age 60, b. VA, was enumerated with them). It's assumed that John was Miranda's brother because she married Robert L. Galloway just 4 months later (Feb. 15, 1851); he died Aug. 14, 1860, according to his gravestone in Hopkins Cemetery, Shawnee Twp., Fountain Co., IN. --Gary Purviance, e-mail attachment, Jan. 3, 2005, and Fountain Co. records
