Minnie Ann Leach was born in 1864 at Barton in Bedfordshire, daughter of a straw plaiter called Martha Leach, formerly Ambridge, and her husband Thomas Leach, an agricultural labourer. Minnie appears in the 1871 census living with her parents on Turnpike Road in Barton.
By 1881 Minnie had left home and was working as a domestic servant at a baker's shop in the nearby town of Luton. She was married in Luton in 1883 to George Marshall, who worked at different times as a straw hat blocker and painter. Between 1884 and 1906 they had eleven children together, although two died young. The 1891 and 1901 censuses each find the family living at 24 Albert Road in Luton. Minnie's widowed father was staying with them at the time of the 1891 census.
By 1911 the family had moved a short distance to 28 Cambridge Street, and Minnie was working as a machinist.
George died in 1929, aged 67. Minnie survived him by two years, and died in 1931 in the Biggleswade district, a few miles north-east of Luton.
