Mrs. Minerva A. Humbert Dies at Her Lincoln Street Home
Mrs Minerva A. Humbert, 88, widow of the late George W. Humbert, died Saturday evening at her home, 2306 Lincoln street. She was born in Greencastle, Ind., April 26, 1840, and was married to Mr. Humbert in Van Buren county, Iowa September 24, 1858. She then came with her husband to Kansas, settling in Douglas county.
In 1860 they returned to Iowa. Mr. Humbert served in the Nineteenth Iowa regiment during the Civil war. Afterwards they returned to Kansas, making their home in Douglas, Coffey and Shawnee counties. They moved to Topeka in February, 1896, where Mr. Humbert engaged in the grocery business at 2300 Lincoln street. He died in 1903.
Mrs. Humbert was a member of Lincoln Circle and the Euclid Avenue Methodist church.
She is survived by three sons, John Humbert, Reseda, Calif.; Frank and Wiley Humbert, Topeka; four daughters, Mrs. F.W. Leech, Glendale, Calif.; Mrs. George S. French, Kansas City, Kan.; Mrs. Charles Spreng, Topeka; and Mrs. W.F. Stahl, Glendale, Calif.; seventeen grandchildren and thirty-two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the Wall-Diffenderfer mortuary at 4 o'clock this afternoon. Burial will be in Foster cemetery.
