Civil War Period Medal of Honor - Milton Russell, Captain, Company A, 51st Indiana Infantry; entered service at North Salem, Indiana; birthplace: Hendricks County, Indiana. Stone River Tennessee, Dec 29,1862

Citation: Captain Russell was the first man to cross Stone River and in the face of galling fire from the concealed skirmishers of the enemy, led his men up the hillside, driving the opposing skirmishers before them. Medal of Honor issued: Sept 28, 1897 2
