Millard Franklin Oppendike was born March 25, 1903 in Rock Island County, the son of John and Nellie (Hart) Oppendike. He attended Hillsdale Schools.

He married Minita Gentz of Prophetstown August 26, 1937 in Clinton, IA.

Mr. Oppendike had farmed in this area and worked as a salesman.

Survivors include the widow, a son, Neil,(Jana) of Prophetstown; two brothers, Edmund of Cordova and Donald of Mineral; two sisters, Mrs. Otto (Dorothy) Arp of East Moline and Mrs. Leslie (Bernice) Johnson of Prophetstown; and two grandchildren, Kevin and Karen Oppendike.He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Viola.

Funeral services were held March 3, 1965, at 1:30 p.m. at First Methodist Church with Rev. Paul Olson officiating.

Pallbearers were Richard Brown, Dale Murphy, Robert Gentz, Gerry Oppendike, Jonnie Arp and David Fisk.
