Obituary - HOWARD CURRENT CITIZEN Bud Morgan Dies Millard H. (Bud) Morgan of Chanute was killed last Saturday evening in a stock car racing accident at Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was thrown through the top of his racer when it jumped the fence at the fair grounds track. He was taken to a Tulsa hospital and died a few minutes after arriving. He was a welder by trade and had been active in racing for several years. He had gained in the Tulsa race from 18th place to third in the 12-lap race when the accident occurred. He was born at Wichita, September 24, 1926. He served with an infantry regiment in the South Pacific during World War II. He was married to Lucille Shepherd, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Shepherd of Howard, February 14, 1948. Besides his wife he is survived by a son and daughter; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Millard Morgan of Chanute; four brothers and one sister. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Shepherd went to Chanute, Wednesday to attend the funeral services which were held at the Evangelical United Brothern church. Burial was in the Chanute cemetery. The relatives and many friends here extend deepest sympathy to the bereaved family.
