DEATH: MILES B. KNIGHT - DIES AT AGE 39 Partner in Local Oil Firm Had Leukemia. Miles B. Knight, 39, a member of the three-partner firm of the Marshfield Oil Company since moving here from Wausau in 1954, died at his home, at 607 S. Apple Ave., at 11:15 p.m. Saturday of leukemia. After funeral services here at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Douglas P. Oyan officiating, the body will be taken to Clinton, Iowa for burial. Mr. Knight had resided there during his early years. Friends may call at the Hansen Funeral Home until noon Tuesday when the body will be taken to church. An Elks Lodge of Sorrow will be observed at the funeral home at 8 o'clock tonight. Mr. Knight was born in Iowa City, Iowa, Dec. 1, 1917, and received his elementary and high school education in different Iowa cities, graduating from the high school in Clinton. He graduated from Cornell College, Mount Vernon, Iowa, in 1940, and served in an infantry division during World War II. He married Myrna Nelson in 1940 at Mount Vernon. During his business career Mr. Knight was employed by several petroleum firms and before coming here in 1954 and spent nine years in Wausau as a salesman for the Mid-Continent Petroleum Company of Tulsa, Okla. He was a member of the Elks, Rotary Club, Masonic Lodge, and the First Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder. Besides his wife he leaves two daughters, Sharon and Nancy; his father, Horace Knight, Galesville; and one brother, Wayne, Santa Monica, Calif. His mother died in 1945. Masonic Rites Conducted for Miles Knight Masonic funeral rites conducted by Sherman Loos of Colby followed the church service for Miles B. Knight conducted by the Rev. Douglas P. Oyan at the First Presbyterian Church here Tuesday afternoon. Dr. J. L. Ousley was soloist for the service, singing the hymns "Love Divine" and "The Lord is My Shepherd." Mrs. Glenn D. Tinkham played the organ accompaniment. Pallbearers were Ben Wing, Arnold Bluemke, John Keel, Ralph Buechler, Harris Babler and A. L. Reynolds. Out-of-town people who came for the services included H. B. Knight of Galesville, Mr. and Mrs. Arch Ring and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ring of Buffalo, Minn. and many friends from Wausau. A large number of local Masons attended the rites as a group. Following the local rites, the body was taken to Clinton, Iowa, where interment was made in Memorial Park cemetery. Mr. Knight, who was a partner in the Marshfield Oil Company, died at his home here Saturday of leukemia, at the age of 39.
