In the 1874-1877 Auburn New York Citydirectories he was a machinist who lived at 86 Oswego and his mother Melissa boarded with him.

The 1880 census had him living in Auburn, Cayuga, New York. He was 33 years old, a machinist and born in New York. He ws was married to Lizzie who was 32 years old with Freddie L. age 9 and Maudie M. age 2. Miles and his children were born in New York while Lizzie was born in Massachusetts.

Miles E. was in the 1891 and 1892 Auburn City directory living at 111 Owasco with an occupation of machinist.

1900 census Lizzie C. born Aug 1846 married for 34 years with 2 children both living. Miles was a machinist. Qwned their own home with a mortgage. Maude M born Sep 1878 Lizzie's mother Eliza Green born Dec 1819 was a widow with all 4 children living.
