    Mildred MITCHELL FREELAND, 91, 509 Spoonbill Court, Winter Springs, Fla., formerly of Rochester, died at 3:55 p.m. Tuesday at South Seminole Hospital, Longwood, Fla.
    She was born in Eaton to Elva A. and Forrest BOSMAN ROBERTS. She lived in Rochester from 1931 to 1980 and in Fort Wayne from 1980 to 1993. On June 24, 1928 she married E.L. MITCHELL, who died Jan. 1, 1977. On Dec. 7, 1980 in Fort Wayne she married Rev. Fred J. FREELAND, who died Nov. 3, 1992. She was a retired school teacher and author of educational materials. She received a bachelor's degree from Ball State and a master's degree in elementary education from Butler University. She had 35 years elementary school teaching experience in Indianapolis, Eaton, Muncie and Rochester's Columbia Eementary School. She was Indiana Teacher of the Year in 1963. At Butler University she taught teaching methods. She also developed workbook materials in the Indianapolis school system. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, past president of Tri Kappa, field director for Girl Scouts, and a hospital volunteer. She participated in children's story hour at the public library, recorded stories for the blind, wrote and producted puppet productions with her daugher, Carol, and was voted Mrs. Senior Citizen Queen of Northeast Indiana.
    Surviving are three daughers, Mrs. Carl B. (Carol) BENNETT, Fort Wayne; Mrs. William (Elaine M.) Van LUE, Winter Springs, Fla.; Marguerite M. FROST, Mundelein, Ill.; a son, Robert W. MITCHELL, Dytone Beach, Fla.; thirtee grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two brothers, James ROBERTS, Eaton, and Hershel ROBERTS, Anaheim, Calif. Preceding in death were two daughters, Maxine LEMLER and Phyllis MITCHELL.
    Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Zimmerman Family Funeral Home, Rochestr, with the Rev. Jack HARTMAN officiating. Burial will be in the Rochester I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Friends may call from 1-3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Columbia Elementary School Library, Rochester.
