Obituary

Mildred “Millie” L. Temple, age 94, of Waldo, entered into the presence of the Lord Saturday morning, September 13, 2014, at the Campbell Place Assisted Living Residence in Bellefontaine, OH.

She was born in Lamoni, Iowa on September 14, 1919, the daughter of the late Fred and Effie (Weekly) Fischer. She graduated as Valedictorian from Waldo High School in the Class of 1937.

On April 22, 1942, Millie married Wayland H. Temple at her parent’s home near Waldo. They shared 69 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on January 16, 2012.

Millie was trained as a beautician at the former Marion Beauty Academy, but she spent most of her life as a homemaker on the farm near Waldo. She is remembered as a faithful wife and a loving mother. Family members reflect on all of the meals Millie prepared for gatherings on the farm for many years.

Millie was a very active participant in the community life of Waldo United Methodist Church where she had worshiped as a child with her parents. She taught Sunday school in excess of 30 years and served on many church committees. She took an active part in the Ruth Circle of her church most of her adult life and was a member of the United Methodist Women. She also belonged to Waldo Community Garden Club, Waldo Mothers Study Club, and Waldo Senior Citizens.

Millie delivered Mobile Meals with her husband for 14 years in Marion County. Together they visited many people who resided in local nursing homes. They also enjoyed taking care of their large vegetable garden together, and sharing their crops with family, friends, and neighbors. Millie is remembered in the general community as a loving, caring person.

Millie will be dearly missed by her two sons: ...;six grandchildren...;10 great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law...

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister: Hazel Schuster.

The Temple Family will greet friends from 4 – 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 E. Center St., Marion.
