MICHAEL WISE DIED SATURDAY- EIGHT OF CHILDREN SURVIVE Aged Resident Who Was a Native of Germany, Passed Away While On Visit. Michael Wise 81, a pioneer resident of this community, died at the home of his son-in-law, Carl Riffe, at Windfall, Saturday evening about 6:30 o'clock, of acute indigestion. He went there a week ago from the home of his daughter, Mrs. Guy Hutcherson, northwest of the city, where he resided, to take treatment from Dr. Longfellow. Winings and York were called to Windfall to remove the body to the Hutcherson home Sunday morning, where it will remain until the hour for the funeral, which will take place at the Lutheran church, of which he was a member, Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. Robertson in charge, and the burial will be in the city cemetery. Mr. Wise was born at Mulhausen, Germany, and came to New Orleans in 1856. He located at Hamilton, O(hio?) and resided there until the family removed to the farm two miles east of the city in 1890. He was married to Elizabeth Schwartz September 4, 1861, and preceded him to the grave several years ago. He is survived by eight of the eleven children born to him. They are Henry Wise of Savannah, Mo, Mrs. Jacob Urban of Hamilton, Ohio, Nicholas Wise and Adam Wise, both of whom reside in the city, Mrs. Magdalena Forrest of Coal Camp, Mo, Mrs. Susannah Riffe of Windfall and Mrs. Guy Hutcherson, with whom he had lately made his home north of the city. Mr. Wise was a good citizen and during his residence in this community made a large number of friends who admired him as a good neighbor and an honest man. Elwood Call Leader 14 April 1919 References
