    "Michael1 Try, born, probably in England, about 1600-1610, died in Fairfield, Conn., in 1677. He married first, about 1630, _____ Phillips, who died 19 May 1646, sister of George Phillips of Windsor, Conn. He married, secondly, about 1653, Margery (_____) Roots, who died, in Fairfield, before 1677, widow of Richard Roots of Fairfield.

    He settled in Windsor, where he was made a Freeman in 1640; later went to Fairfield, and served as a deputy, in 1657. …

    'Mihill Try' made his will, 13 Apr. 1676, proved 26 Apr. 1677. He gave to his daughter Sarah, wife of John Gruman, £10; to grandchild John Grumman, housing and lands near Uncaway River; to grandchild Samuel Grumman, houselot by Robert Turney's; to grandchild Thomas Grumman, land in Concord Field and long lot; to grand child Mihil Grumman, £10 and rest of long lot; to kinsman John Roots, the bed my deceased wife gave him, also meadow at the Indian Field; to Benoni Galpin, if he serve out his time with my executors; residue to grandchildren, 'Mihill,' Elizabeth, and Sarah Grumman equally; lands entailed to male grandchildren; daughter Sarah and grandson John Grumman, executors; friends Lt. Banks and Sgt. Squire, overseers. A codicil, 17 Apr. 1676, gave a legacy to Richard Lyon Sr. The inventory was dated 26 Apr. 1677. (Fairfield Probate Recds., 3:28.)"
