His will was dated Dec. 22, 1672, proved March 20, 1673. … Michael Taintor's name is on the list of Wethersfield men who emigrated thence to Totoket (Branford) Conn. in 1644, about the same time his father Charles removed to Fairfield., … Michael was an early settler of Branford, and his name appears frequently in connection with the early records and history of this settlement. He was a seafaring man and was master of a vessel owned by Isaac Allerton, trading to Virginia in 1654; Judge of a Court held at Branford 1669-1670 to settle the question of boundary lines with New Haven, Branford and Guilford; Member of Connecticut Assembly 1670-1672. He and his son John were signers of the Church and Plantation Covenant at Branford, June 20, 1667. He was also the town Clerk in 1667.
