Michael an Catherine Rose were married at St. Peter's Catholic Church.

MICHAEL MOTTER (1820-1897) came to the United States from Weyerheim, Alsace Lorraine, France at the age of 22 after learning the cabinetmaker trade. He was the young- est of 11 children. After his father died he returned to his old home in France and brought his mother to Carroll County, Harrison Township, Ohio.

When he was 28 years old he was married to Catherine Brankel of Rose Twp, and then moved to Cincinnati, Ohio where he worked at his trade for a year. For the next year he continued with his trade at Cape Girardeaux, Missouri and then moved io Waynesburg, Ohio (Stark County) but after a short period he returned to Carroll County and settled on a 30 acre form in Rose Twp. After 11 years he moved to another 30 acre farm in another part of the township. After ten years ten months he bought eighty acres in Rose Township. rhere he died in May 1897 at the age of 77. His wife passed away November 1896. They had eleven children,

Casper, Caroline and Clara lived at the home and never married, Clara was a carpet weaver and wove all the carpet for the home. Casper was a carpenter and farmer, William Henry, another son, married Mary Friedman and had five daughters and one son. He taught school in all eight districts in Rose Township for a number of years.

Casper attended the local schools of Rose Twp, until he was 19 years oid, then learned the carpenter trade and worked at it until 1894, then located on the homestead and farmed until his death, Clara Catherine attended #3 school in Rose Twp, until age 21.

They all attended St. Marys Church, Morges, Ohio.
