Discusses immigration, sailing first form London 17 Sep 1636 by himself, then from Yarmouth 15 Apr 1637 with his family, and gives a complete transcript of a letter dated 13 Jan 1636/37 that was written to his fellow non-conformists of Norwich.

Deposition in Norwich in 25 Dec 1635 and 2 Feb 1635/36, Michael Metcalf of Norwich, dornick weaver, aged 45 years and born in Tatterford. [This is the article that finally confirmed the parentage of Michael Metcalf, because Rev. Leonard Metcalf is only known Metcalf family in Tatterford. Records for Tatterford are missing for this particular year, but this birth year shows previous dates in 1587 were confusing Michael with his brother Nicholas. Additional notes on deposition at NEHGR 86:253.]

When embarking for New England in Apr. 1637, age given as 45. [Birth calculates to be 1592. Also, this article gives Metcalf baptisms in Tatterford, and Michael not found there.]

Claims a parish record at Tatterford "Michael Metcalf filius Leonardi Metcalf et bapt fuit 17th died June 1587", but this has been refuted by later researchersS6S7, because the original parish registers are spotty and parts have been reconstructed from other sources.
