In 1863, during the United States Civil War, Michael McNamara sailed from County Clare, Ireland to the United States. I have not found the towns/cities where he embarked or arrived.

Bridgett O'Neil grew up in Dunkirk and her family attended the Catholic Church there. Only four years after Michael arrived he married Bridgett in Dunkirk. He may have had Dunkirk as his destination when he arrived to the US as there were already at least a couple of McNamara families living there when Michael arrived. It is not known how or if they were related to Michael.

Shattuck near Cherry Creek at an advanced age of ninety years. ... Besides his daughter, he is survived by two sons, Patrick McNamara of Cherry Creek and another son at Hamlet.
