Michael, born in County Clare, Ireland, immigrated to the United States in 1863. Bridgett immigrated about 1850. They met in Dunkirk, New York, and married 1867. By 1875, the family was living in Gerry, New York, and by 1880 they lived in Cherry Creek. During at least 3 of those years, Michael worked as a railroad hand.
