GRAHAM — Michael Kent Holt, 58, of 2402-E Wesvill Court, Raleigh, died at 9:34 a.m. Sunday, July 28, 2002 at 3551 Preacher Holmes Road in Graham after 26 months of declining health and two months of critical illness. A native of Alamance County, Mr. Holt was a politicial consultant. He served many years as a staff assistant for Senator Jesse Helms. Later, he became CEO of Jefferson Marketing Inc., a campaign consulting and public relations firm. He served as Chief of Staff for congressman David B. Funderburk in Washington, D.C. On his return to North Carolina, he founded Consensus Strategies, LLC. Mr. Holt served on the board of the Caldwell County Economic Development Commission, was an active member of the Lions Club and the Young Republican National Federation. Survivors include one step-daughter, Mrs.. Annette Roberts of Lenoir; one step-grandson, Zachary Roberts of Lenoir; one sister, Mrs.. Pat (Don) Schronce of Graham; and three nieces, Miss Donna Schronce of Graham, Miss Michelle Schronce of Graham and Mrs.. Diane (Mike) Lepley of Suwanee, Ga. He was preceded in death by his parents, Grace Ray Holt and Arthur Edgar “Monk” Holt. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at McClure Funeral Home Chapel in Graham. Burial will follow in Graham Memorial Park. The Rev. James L. Florence and the Rev. Elizabeth E. Inman will officiate. The family will receive friends at McClure Funeral Home on Tuesday night from 7 to 9. At other times they will be at the home of his sister, Mrs.. Pat Schronce, 3551 Preacher Holmes Road in Graham.
