!All Goodnights on this record, that is, all the Gutknechts and Goodnights that follow this Michael Gutknecht come from "The History of Michael Goodnight" at the Family History Center in Salt Lake City, Utah and from the TIB All of the family line run back to one Pierre du Terrail Bayard (1473-1524) whom the French Parliament knighted to the order of St. Michael. His desendents were called Goodknights. Later members of his family renouncing the Catholic faith had to flee to Germany (Alsace-Loraine), changing their name to Gutknecht.
