Will of Michael Fritz
- Will of Michael Fritz, Probated 19 June 1787, Appraisal July 1787.
- In the Name of God Amen, I Michael Fritz of the county of Berkeley and State of Virginia yeoman being very sick and weak of body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God calling into mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men to die make and ordain this my last Will and Testament that to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hands of Almighty God that gave it and my body I recommend to the Earth to be buried in Decent Christian burial at the discretion of my Executors, nothing doubting but at the General resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and on touching such worldly estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me with in this life I give devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form.
- I give and bequeath unto my eldest son Valentine Fritz, my eldest daughter Mary Wilson and my second daughter Catherine Lee and my daughter Elizabeth Davis each of these an equal division of all my effects in this county of Berkeley and that of Virginia, my house and half lot in Martinsburg to be sold by my Executors and all other effects to be sold and my Executors to receive the payment of seven pounds upon Nicholas Choppert(Shepperd?), six of fifty pounds and one of thirty seven pounds ten shillings Pennsylvania currency with twenty pounds rent for the house and lot in Martinsburg which is all to be equally divided by my Executors among my oldest son Valentine Fritz and my three daughters above mentioned.
- I likewise give and bequeath unto Ann Winslow all the land I now (posess?) at Sandy Creek, Moningahale County, & State of Virginia during her life and after her decease the lands to be sold by my Executors and the money to be equally divided amongst my four Children before mentioned and three children belonging to Ann Winslow. The said Ann Winslow to keep the two horses she took out with her with all other materials for husbandry.
- I give and bequeath unto Ann Winslow daughter of the above named Ann Winslow a feather bed and bedding.
- I likewise give and bequeath unto my son-in-law Jacob Wilson my chest and all that is in it together with my Gun which I bought of Nicholas Chopper and a brass kettle a lock chain and wedge.
- I likewise constitute make and ordain Nicholas Coffenberg and George Weigle Sole executors of this my last Will and Testament and I do fully, utterly disallow, revoke and disannul all and ever the former Testaments, Wills, Legacies, bequests, and executors by me many ways before named willed bequeathed ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament.
- In witness thereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty ninth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand, seven hundred and eighty seven.

- At a court held for Berkeley County the 19th day of June 1787
- This last Will and Testament of Michael Fritz, deceased was presented in Court by George Weigle and Nicholas Choffenberg the Executors herein named who made oath these according to law and the same being proved by the oaths of Robert Baine and James Sterrat witnesses hereto and ordered to be recorded and upon the motion of the said Executor who entered into bond with Martin Kiser(?), Martin Housemann(?), Nicholas Mackwert(?) and Jacob Snowdeal(?) in the Penalty of one thousand pounds conditioned for their true and faithful administration of the said estate certificate is granted them for obtaining a probate thereof in ------ form of law
