Michael and Elizabeth had a total of 15 children but 5 have been lost in history. Michael could read and write in German but Elizabeth could not at all. Michael signed the marriage bond in German, and someone else signed for Elizabeth with the spelling Nease. It was dated 4 June 1787 in Virginia and signed by her father also. About 1798 the family moved to Green Co., Tennessee and then in 1815, moved to Washington Co., and then to Owen Co., settling near Gosport. The home they build there was made of cobblestone and was still standing in 1890. The family moved on to Missouri in 1842.
