Obituary: Michael F Barilla, 95, of 509 Mahoning Street, Lehighton, passed into eternal rest Tuesday evening August 8 (2006) in Manor Care Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of the late Vermont A. Graver Barilla. Born in Northampton, he was a son of the late Joseph P and Katherine Buzza Barilla. A lace weaver, he formerly worked for the Penn Lace Co in Lehighton until his transfer to the Sommerville, NJ plant. He most recently worked for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation as a maintenance worker until retiring several years ago. Michael was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, Lehighton. Among his social memberships were life membership at the Lehigh Fire Co. 1 in Lehighton and life member of the Bowmanstown Volunteer Fire Co, the Lehighton Moose Lodge, the Lehighton Eagles and the Lehighton Orioles Nest 183. Survivors: Daughter, Kathleen M., wife of William Exner of Coopersburg; son, Dennis M. of Hamburg; sister, Margaret Dotter of Lehighton; grandson; great-grandson; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Joseph, Paul, George, Stephen and John, and three sisters, Mary Kelly, Anna Hancharick and Catherine Barilla. Services: 10:30 am Saturday August 12 in the Andrew P Ovsak Funeral Home, Fourth and Iron Streets, Lehighton with the Rev. Edward J Essig officiating. Call 9:30-10:30 am Saturday to the funeral home. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Memorials in his name to Ss. Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, Third and Coal Streets, Lehighton, PA 18235.
