Descendent of Peter Anderson, early settler of Bellville, WV; and also of the pioneer Staats family. Resided (with Mary Ann) at the head of Big Pond Creek near Limestone Hill (WV) where they owned one square mile of land. An Indian village is said to have existed on this farm. Rev. Henry Coleman, a near relative of Michael's, was a frequent vistor, where he often related his experiences in the Holy Land, and exhibit many relics brought back.
