    Merle Marie “Patty” Major, 92, of London, Ohio, formerly of Toledo, Columbus, and Grove City, Ohio, passed away at 1:15 p.m. EDT Friday, October 11, 2019, at London Health & Rehab. She was retired after over forty years as a registered nurse, primarily at hospitals in Toledo and Columbus.

    She was born February 18, 1927, in Vermilion, Illinois, the daughter of the late Oscar and Lula (Rawlings) Hancock. She married Thomas Marion Major on September 24, 1949. He preceded her in death on February 17, 2008.

    Survivors include three children, Jeffrey Major (Darlene Petkwitz) of Cygnet, Ohio, Vandela Major of Fort Myers Beach, Florida, and Ann Gostlin of Grove City; a sister, Ellen Graham of Indianapolis, Indiana; three grandchildren, AJ Mohr of Seattle, Washington, Dan (Allison) Gostlin of Columbus, and Kevyn Gostlin of Columbus; a great-grandson, Robert Gostlin; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sons-in-law, Joseph Mohr and Steve Gostlin; three brothers, Cecil, Ralph, and Earl Hancock; a sister, Edith Whitkanack; and four infant siblings.

    Mrs. Major was a woman of deep faith and was an avid Bible scholar. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
