- ↑ 1.0 1.1 The will of her father dated in 1690 (very hard to read) names a daughter Mercy, includes the phrase "having given me a Living Child by her" when discussing his widow, and conditions his bequest to Mercy with the phrase "if she die befor maried". Traditional secondary sources seem to show her marrying a Mr. Cane, but no evidence for this speculation has been located and the most likely case is that this is a misreading of her father's will which clearly says she is not married. Neither Mercy, nor any heirs of hers, participate in the sale of property in 1719.
