MELVIN SAUNDERS, COLTON
Melvin Saunders, 87, a 58-year resident of Conton, died May 4, 1985 in San Bernardino. He was a native of Lincoln, Kansas, retired welder for 25 years with the California State Department of Highways, member of the Colton Community Church, Past Master and a member of Colton Ashlar Lodge No. 306 F&AM, the VFW, American Legion, Past Worthy Patron of the Eastern Star, Scottish Rite, Paradise Valley Shrine, World War I Veterans, veteran of the U.S. Navy. Left his loving daughters Floriene Nebius of San Bernardino, Evelyn Patrick of Colton, Lucille Blakeman of San Bernardino, Mary Marchese of Grand Terrace, Irene Kinney of Colton; three brothers, Ludwell of Yucaipa, Don of San Fernando and Alfred of Hutchinson, Kansas; two sisters, Helen Crawford and Ethel Smith, both of Kansas; eight grand-children; 9 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his son in 1946 and his wife in 1974. Funeral services 10 a.m. today at Colton Funeral Chapel. Interment in Hermosa Cemetery, Colton Funeral Chapel directing.
