Melvin J. Krumrine, Jr., “Jim,” age 80, of Westminster, MD, passed away peacefully at his farm surrounded by his family on May 5, 2023. He was the loving husband of Christine M. (Staub) Krumrine; together they shared 57 years of marriage.
Jim was born in Hanover on May 30, 1942 and was the son of the late Melvin J. Krumrine, Sr. and Gertrude (Burkee) Krumrine. He graduated from North Carroll High School Class of 1960. While growing up working on his family farm, he also worked in his grandfather’s tomato canning factory. He chose farming as a way of life and was a hard-working farmer until an unfortunate farming accident nine years ago rendered him a quadriplegic. Jim was also a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hanover and a former member of the Future Farmers of America. Jim was a devoted husband and father and cherished the time he spent with his loving family and grandchildren.
In addition to his loving wife Christine, Jim is survived by his children Kelly Hilker and husband Steve, Stacey Saltzgiver and husband Shaun, and Jessica Lambert and husband David; and his grandchildren Tracey Beland and husband Joey, Greg Hilker and wife Lindsey, and twins Amanda and Wyatt Lambert. Jim is also survived by his brother Thomas Krumrine and wife Stevie; his sister Joan Miller and husband Gerald; and several nieces and nephews.
