Dietlein Page 57 Gunther,Melvin (Bud J.) 405 Ninth St. Mr. Gunther, age 51, passed away July 8, 1971 at Samaritan Hospital following a short illness. He was born on Feb. 14, 1920 in Monitor Township and was a lifetime Bay City resident. He was employed by the American Hoist and Derrick Co. On Sept. 27, 1947 he married Louise Knight who survives his passing. He also leaves four daughters, Miss Kay Ellen Gunther and Mrs. Timothy (Karol) Seifferly Sr. both of Bay City and Brenda Gunther and Barbara Gunther both at home, one grandson Timothy Seifferly Jr., and his mother Margaret A. Gunther of Auburn, two sisters, Mrs. Lorenz (Audry) Roth and Mrs. Wilson (Sue) Berger both of Bay City, and two brothers, Vern Guther and Thomas Gunther both of Auburn. Mr. Gunther is a member of Bethel Lutheran Church. He is a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S, Army in Italy, a member and former officer of the McCauley Abrams Post No. 485, a member of the Polish Legion of American Veterans Post No. 162, and a member of the Last Man Club. Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. from the Bethel Lutheran Church. The Rev. John H. Kurth will officiate with interment following at Floral Gardens Cemetery. Memorial cards for the Bethel Lutheran Church Building Fund will be available. Mr. Gunther will be in state at the Penzien Funeral Home where friends may call after 7:00 p.m. Friday and until 12:00 noon on Sunday at which time he will be taken to the church to lie in state until time of services.
