    Melba Frakes Lane, 80, of Steele, Mo., died Friday, June 29, 2001 at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett, Mo.

    Born September 10, 1920, in Steele, she was the daughter of the late Ollie Frakes and Almeda LaRue Frakes. She was also preceded in death by one son, Rhondal Lane; and one granddaughter, Larhonda Lane.

    Melba was united in marriage to Elmer Lane on January 5, 1935. He preceded her in death.

    She was a homemaker and of the church of Christ faith.

    Mrs. Lane leaves one son, Danny Lane, of Selma, Ala.; Four sisters: Catherine Kellems, Jean Johnson, Adell Capps and Geraldine Young of Steele; Four grandchildren; Three great-grandchildren.

    Funeral services for Mrs. Lane were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 1, 2001, at the Bradshaw Funeral Home Chapel in Steele with Mr. Bill Lovelace officiating.
    Burial was at the New Live Oak Cemetery in Selma with Bradshaw Funeral Home of Steele in charge.
