[Alamance County_Feb 2006_backup.FTW] BURLINGTON — Mr. Maynard Nicks Miles, 74, of Huffman Mill Road, died at 12:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999, at Duke University Medical Center in Durham after a sudden illness. A native of Caswell County, he was the son of Mr. Oakus Edward Miles and Mrs.. Pearl Nicks Miles, both deceased. He was retired from J.C. Penney Co. He was a member of the VFW and the Burlington Shriners Club, and he was a member and past master of Bula Masonic Lodge No. 409 A.F.&A.M. He was a member of Grove Park Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs.. Lester (Cornelia) Jessup of Burlington; four sisters, Mrs.. Berta Miles Rice, Mrs.. Erma Miles Pearson and Mrs.. Margie Miles Briggs, all of Burlington, and Mrs.. Doris Miles Mann of Graham; three brothers, Mr. Oscar W. Miles and Mr. William F. Miles of Burlington and Mr. James Alvin Miles of Elon College; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs.. Nellie Miles Wilson and Mrs.. Mary Miles Hooper Gunn; and three brothers, Mr. Clyde W. Miles, Mr. Graham Miles and Mr. Thomas Miles. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Grove Park Baptist Church by Dr. Eugene Hunsinger, pastor, Dr. Roy Taylor, former pastor, and Dr. W.W. Snyder. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Burial will be in Baynes Baptist Church Cemetery in Caswell County. Bula Lodge No. 409 will meet at 9 a.m. Tuesday for emergent communication for the purpose of conducting Masonic graveside rites. The family will be at Rich and Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 6 to 8 this evening. Memorials may be made to Grove Park Baptist Church, 108 Trail One, Burlington, N.C. 27215. References
