Marilla "May" Bendle Denham and her twin sister of Aura Bendle Wilson Dorman Campbell were placed in a Cleveland orphanage when their parents died. The twins were separated when a couple from Chautauqua County, New York, Cyrus and Katie Wilson, came to the orphanage to find 2 healthy, strong girls to take home with them. They chose Aura but not May because May was smaller and sickly looking. Instead, Cyrus and Katie chose another little girl, also named May, probably healthy and strong, to take home along with Aura.

As adults, the twin girls Aura and May, were able to find each other. Aura was living in New York and May was living in Ohio.

I am unable to locate May Bendle in the 1900 or 1910 Federal census.
