Mrs. Brady was 56 and her sudden death shocked and grieved the entire community. She was manager of Maxine's Dress Shoppe and was at her place of business all day Monday, apparently feeling well. Afer closing the store at 5:30 p.m. Mrs. Brady
took her assistant, Mrs. Annie Ray Griffin, home. As she came out of the driveway to go to her own home, she became suddenly ill and went to the office of Dr. R.G. Hendrick. Her condition appeared critical and upon the doctor's advice she was rushed by Barry ambulance to Memphis. She was accompanied by her sister, Mrs. Tilden Dendy. An emergency operation was performed at 3:00 a.m. Tuesday but little hopes were held for her recovery. It was reported that she did not regain consciousness.
Mrs. Brady was the former Maxine McDowell, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joe S. McDowell. She was graduated from the Okolona High School. In 1920 she was married to Mr. Brady. Almost 12 years ago she established the business which two years ago she sold to her son, Joseph Brady of Memphis, but continued as manager. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church and of the Merchants Committee of the Chamber of Commerce and was active in church, civic and social circles. She participated in patriotic
drives and was known as a generous giver to all worthwhile causes. She was devoted to her family and was a loyal friend.

Brady, Jr. of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Joseph Brady of Memphis, Julian Brady of East Point, Ga.; three brothers, Banks McDowell of Tucson, Ariz., William L. McDowell of Blissfield, Mich., Joe McDowell of Grand Rapids, Mich.; three sisters, Mrs. A.W. Kellum of Monroe, Mich., Mrs. Charles McGehee and Mrs. Tilden Dendy; and four grandchildren.
