MAURICE W. LATHROP APRIL 18, 1916 - APRIL 17, 2007 Age 90, of Oakdale since 1951, passed away at home in his sleep. Born in Geddes, South Dakota. Owner of the Oakdale Theatre from 1951 to 1963, affectionately known as Coach by the young patrons. Employed as a social services supervisor by Stanislaus County until retirement in 1978.

Survived by 2 children <snip> of Martinez and <snip> of Sacramento, 5 siblings, 4 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Apheni A. Lathrop. Maurice was well known in Oakdale for his activities in numerous social organizations such as Masonic Lodge and the Odd Fellows. Services will be conducted at 2pm, Tues 4/24 at United Methodist Church, Poplar Street, Oakdale.
