  1.   He is the proved son of William Pickens. His father made a deed to him for land in Maury Co. TN in which he called him "my son". He deeded his land in Maury Co. to James C. Powell on Sep 27, 1821. He moved to Wayne Co. TN soon after. He bought land there ca. 1823. The census of 1830 shows him living in Wayne Co. At that time, he had seven (7) sons and no daughters. He moved to Tishomingo Co. MS about 1836, but sold his land there in 1838 and moved to Texas where hi died.
