Information on Matthew Peatross

Mathew Peatross was born before 1715. He died in 1768 in Caroline Co., Virginia. "Matthew Peatross appears as early as 1733 in the Caroline County Order book, in which his name at that time was spelled Petterey. In 1752 William Yarborough chose Matthew Peatross as his guardian and in 1754 he petitioned for the right to build a mill on reedy Swamp. He died in 1768, leaving a will. He left a large family and Peatross descendants can still be found in Caroline county. according to family tradition he married twice. his first wife was a Catlett, his second wife, who survived him, was named Amy.
