I Mathew Davidson of the County of Franklin and State of Ky being weak in Body but sound in mind doth ordain this my last will and testament.
Item 1st the payment of just and lawful debts I will and bequeath to my beloved wife Margaret S. Davidson all my negroes Viz. Ben, Rebekah, Mary and her child together with one third of the balance of my estate both real and personal for during her natural life
Item 2nd It is my will that my land be not divided until the payments of my debts is completed the products of which are to b appropriated to that purpose
Item 3d It is my will that in a final disbursement of my Estate each and every one of my Children shall receive an equal dividend except Hannah Carter who has already received the sum of $170 and to whom I now bequeath the further sum of five hundred dollars which shall be appropriated or invested at the discretion of my Exrs. for the pormor___ of the of the [sic] interest of said Hannah and her children but in no wise to be subject to the control of Landon Carter.
Item 4th It is hereby ordered that if any one or more of my legatees be dissatisfied as to make legal complaint the part or dividend or such individual or individuals be forfeited thereby and revert back to the common stock and be equally divided amoung the others John Davidson, William Davidson, James Davidson, ____ Patton, Rebekah Neil, Cornelius Davidson, Samuel Davidson, Thomas Davidson and Nancey Davidson are the residue of my Children who have made equal in heirs life subject however to a discount of the amount they have previously rec'd.
Item 5th. I hereby appoint and constitute my sons William Davidson and James Davidson Executors of this my last will and testament
