MATILDA WALKER, b. Jan. 5, 1808, was a widow when she married Donald Grant had several children by her first husband; one of them, Gilbert Carlton Walker was bound out to John K. Grant, who released him and helped him to an education; he became a prominent lawyer, and was later Governor of Virginia. A grand-son, Harry K. Walker, was Lieutenant Governor of New York State; Gilbert Walker was Governor of Virginia when Donald Grant died; the Legislature of Virginia, then in session, adjourned out of respect for the Governor, while he attended the funeral.
