Upon their trip to Indiana (1820) they were accompanied by Mathias Kepler, the father of Peter Kepler, Sr. Mathias Kepler was born in Germany and came to the United States in company with three brothers. He served in the French and Indiana war and was with the Virginia troops under Washington at the disastrous battle which is known in history as "Braddock's Defeat." He was a farmer by occupation and died in Harrison township, Wayne county, at the advanced age of ninety-six years. ...
