John Langdon Sibley referred to her as "Mary of witch-memory" because of her role in the Salem Witch Trials. She told Tituba how to make a "witchcake" to detect witches, but was admonished because she had gone "to the Devil for help against the Devil", so apologized, which was accepted back into the church.
