Marie was the fourth child of Edward G. and Mary Wellmeier. She wasbaptized on January 26, 1902 at St. Mary's Church, Dayton, Ohio. Priorto entering the convent, she attended St. Mary's, St. Anthony's andJacob's Business College. Marie entered the Sisters of Saint Francis on June 25, 1927receiving her final vows January 2, 1933. She took the name of SisterMary Richarda. Sister Richarda attended the Marian College in Oldenburg, Indianaand received her degree in education in 1950.
