Notes BIRTH: Before 1765 because she is over 45 in 1810 census. DEATH: Before 1820, because Abel lives alone in 1820 census. Clayton vs. Carlile suit filed Dec 15, 1821 in Augusta Co states that Mary is dead.

Marriage date based on son Ralph b. 1786. We have no marriage record for Mary and Abel; just lots of statements from different people saying they did marry. Her mother's will specifies "Mary, wife of Abel Armstrong". "Waggon Rd" says they married about 1784.

Sources [S93] Court Records - Augusta Co, Clayton vs. Carlisle suit, filed in Dec 1821, states that Mary is dead. 1810 census shows a wife with Abel; 1820 census does not, so she probably died between 1810 and 1820. (Reliability: 0).

[S7] Waggon Road to West VA, p.67 gives approximate marriage date, plus first son was born in 1786. Mary's mother Margaret Carlisle's will written in 1807 states that Mary is the wife of Abel Armstrong. (Reliability: 0).
