Meir Died Sunday After A Long Illness Was One of the Early Pioneer Settlers of Klacking Township Funeral services for Mrs. Mary R. Meir, a resident of Ogemaw county for the past 66 years and one of the earliest settlers of Klacking township, were held on Wednesday morning of this week December 27, at 9:30 o'clock from St. Joseph's church in West Branch, with Rev. Fr. Urban A. Miller, pastor, officiating. Burial took place in St. Joseph's cemetery, West Branch. She was 86 years of age. Mrs. Meir was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Wangler, pioneer residents of the county, and the widow of the late Conrad Meir, Sr. She was born in Canada on October 25, 1859, and came to Ogemaw from Mildmay, Canada, when she was about twenty years old. She was married in Klacking township, shortly after her arrival and resided there for 38 years, after which she made her residence in West Branch city for 26 years. She died last Sunday December 24, at 2:00 p.m. at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mary Griffin, in West Branch township after an illness of six weeks. She is survived by six children: Conrad Meir, Jr., and Albert Meir, both of West Branch township; Ameal Meir, of Rose City; Mrs. Rachel Schneider, of St. Clair, Mich,; Mrs, Josephine Fritz, of West Branch; Mrs. Irene Hauck, of Canada, and Mrs. Mary Griffin, of West Branch and one sister, Mrs. Emma Relighan, of West Superior, Wisconsin."

Will of Mary Meir Received for Record the 25th day of January A.D. 1945 at 1:00 P.M. Ned W Haig Register.

"Be It Remembered, That I, Mary Meir, of the city of West Branch, County of Ogemaw, State of MIchigan, being of sound mind and memory, but knowing that uncertainties of this life, do hereby make, execute and declare this to be my last will and testament, in the manner following:

First, I will and direct that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid in full.

Second, I give, devise and bequeath unto my executrix hereinafter named a sufficient amount to erect a suitable tombstone on my cemetery lot in the City of West Branch, Michigan.

Third, I will and direct that my executrix pay to such of my children as may render me services during my last illness. At the present time I owe none of my children for any care or services, but in the event any of my children have the care of me during my last illness I want them paid out of my estate, such sum, however, is to be determined by the probate court having jurisdictiono f the Probate of my estate.

Fourth, I hereby full license, empower and authorize my executrix hereinafter named to sell, convey and dispose of my estate, both real and personal, without having to obtain license from any court, and without any order confirming such sales. Such sale to be for the best price obtainable by my said executrix.

Fifth, I will and direct that after my death, such children may be indebted to me may be given one year in which to pay such indebtedness.

Sixth, All the rest and residue of my estate, of which I may die possessed, I give, devise and bequeath unton my children and grand-children as follows: To my children Conrad Meir, Albert Meir, Amel Meir, Ratchel Schneider, Josephine Fritz, Irene Hauck, and Mary Griffin, each an undivided one-eighth. To my grand-children Lucile Miller and Kenneth Schesser, each an undivided one-sixteenth.

Seventh, I hereby appoint my daughter, Mary Griffin, of West Branch, Michigan, executrix of this my last will and testament.

Lastly, I do hereby revoke all former, and every will heretofore made by me.

In witness whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and seal, this seventh day of October, in the year one thousand nine hundred and thiry-five.

On this Seventh day of October in the year one thousand nine hundred and thirty-five, Mary Meir of West Branch, in the County of Ogemaw and state of Michigan, signed the foregoing instrument in our presence, and declared it to be her last will and testament, and we not being interested therein, at the request of said Mary Meir, in her presence, and in the presence of each other, and where she could see us sign our names, did thereupon, on said above mentioned day subscribe our names hereto as witnesses thereof.

I, Mary Meir, of West Branch, Michigan, being of sound mind, do hereby make this instrument a codicil to my last will and testement bearing date the seventh day of October, 1935.

Whereas, by my said will and testament I appointed my daughter, Mary Griffin, as sole executrix of my said will and testament, Now I do hereby revoke such paragraph appointing my said daughter, Mary Griffin, as sole executrix of my will and testament, and in place thereof, I do hereby appoint my son, Albert Meir and my said daugher, Mary Griffin, as joint executors of my last will and testment, and I do hereby fully authorize, license and empower my said executors to seel, transfer and convey my estate, both real and personal, without having to procure any licence from court so to do, and without having to procure and any order of court confirming such sale.
